Dr. Marvin J. Hudson is a Full Connection Elder of the Oklahoma Annual Conference, an experienced pastor, and a New Testament scholar. He has served congregations in numerous locations across the Conference. He has also taught Biblical languages, theology, and leadership on the college level. He is a husband, father, and grandfather.
Education
He holds the Doctor of Ministry degree from Asbury Theological Seminary, the Master of Divinity from Phillips Graduate Seminary, and a Master of Arts from Southern Nazarene University. His research while at Asbury Theological Seminary focused on leadership studies. His interests included effective ministry and turn around strategies related to the various generational and cultural segments present within society.
IIMS
In 2011, he received training to become an Intentional Interim Ministry Specialist in the Oklahoma Conference. As an IIMP, he is made available by the Bishop and Cabinet to churches to assist them through a variety of transitional events or stages in their community or spiritual life.
Teaching
His teaching experiences include full faculty at Southwestern College of Christian Ministries (Southwestern Christian University and adjunct faculty experiences for SCCM (Biblical studies),Southern Nazarene University (adjunct Biblical language instructor), Phillips Theological Seminary, and Southwestern Christian University (adjunct instructor in hermeneutics and leadership development).
Pastoral Leadership
As a pastor he led several churches through the difficult process of turning around ministry through forging a mission statement, developing outreach ministries and discovering their own role in creating an active and vital church in their community. Deeply committed to finding, training and releasing lay ministry in the church, community and beyond, he helped congregational leaders and members discover what God wanted them to do and then provided leadership, encouragement and direction for them to achieve the initial movements in those areas.
Memberships
He retains active membership in the Society of Biblical Literature and the Classical Association of the Middle-West South.
Interests
His avocations include playing bass guitar for a Norman based Rock group. and, when he gets the time, astronomy and chemical darkroom.
